43rd Young Concert Artists Series Presents
the New York Debut of
20-year-old French Trumpeter David Guerrier
March 25, 2004 On Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 8 o'clock in the evening, Young Concert Artists, with the support of the Florence J. Gould Foundation, presents French trumpeter David Guerrier at the 92nd Street Y in the Katharine J. Rayner Concert, marking Mr. Guerrier's New York debut.
At 18, David Guerrier won the first Young Concert Artists European Auditions held in Paris, and subsequently won the 2003 Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York.
Mr. Guerrier was the first trumpeter in forty years to win First Prize at the Munich International Music Competition of the ARD since the famed Maurice Andre won it in 1963. He was also awarded the Prize for Best Interpretation of a Commissioned Piece.
He will be joined by a special Guest Artist, trumpeter and YCA alumnus Stephen Burns, in Albinoni's Concerto for Two Trumpets and Stravinsky's Fanfare for a New Theater. Mr. Burns is the Artistic Director of the American Concerto Orchestra and the Fulcrum Point New Music Project in Chicago.
Since the age of 16, Mr. Guerrier has been racking up one amazing win after another. He won First Prize in the 2000 Maurice André International Trumpet Competition in Paris and First Prize in the 2002 International Trumpet Guild Competition in New York.
Young Concert Artists, Inc., is a non-profit organization which presents the winners of its annual Auditions in debut recitals at the 92nd St. Y and also provides management.
