                            H.S. Division Repertoire:

Tape - Kent Kennen-Sonata for Trumpet and Piano  (2 contrasting movements)

Alexander Arutunian-Concerto for Trumpet and Piano (International Music Ed.)

         Marcel Bitsch-Quatre Variations sur un Theme de Domenico Scarlatti

Concertino pour Trumpet – Andre Jolivet

                         The judges are looking for the following:

                                                              1. Full control of the instrument

                                                              2. Beautiful sound, phrasing, and mature sense of style

                                                              3. Professional stage presence and an engaging personality

                        Competition Rules:

                        1. Applicants must be registered in a High School or a recognized college or conservatory.

                        2. Entrant’s Date of Birth must be later than April 16, 1979.

                        3. Non-refundable Application fee of $40 for High School Division and $65 for College Division.

                        4. Checks should be issued to the New York Brass Conference.

                       5. Deadline for application and all fees is March 15, 2004.

                           Application must include an UNEDITED tape or CD.

                      6. College students must submit a photocopy of the applicant's driver’s license or other proof of DOB.

                      7. The Judges reserve the right not to award a first prize unless one is deserving.

                      8. The Judges' decision is final.

                      9. Each contestant must provide his/her own piano score and perform with piano.

                    10. If the entrant does not provide an accompanist and would like to use the professional accompanist                                     provided by the NYBC, the fee for both live rounds will be $50 payable at time of application.
